In the Diocesan Changes you will have read: Fr. Michael Collins, Co-PP, VF, Tradaree Pastoral Area, resident in Newmarket on Fergus to be Vicar for Mission and Ministry, while continuing to minister in Tradaree with cover from the Pastoral Area as required. The implications of this appointment coupled with Fr. Michael’s role as Chair of the Council of Priests and acting DA for Secondary Schools means that Fr. Michael now will have three significant appointments at Parish, Pastoral Area and Diocesan level. The Diocese envisages that Fr. Michael will give 2 to 3 days a week (including evenings) to his appointment as Vicar for Mission and Ministry in the Diocese. This is going to result in a significant draw on Fr. Michael’s time. In the coming weeks Fr. Michael will be exploring what this will mean for how he ministers in the Parish of Newmarket and in our Pastoral Area. Fr. Michael in conjunction with the other priests in the Pastoral Area wish to ensure that the Pastoral and Spiritual needs of this community continue to be met.
